TUTORIAL (Optional, Designed for New Members) : 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM

Congratulations on your positive choice to consider building your PMI professional skills as a member of our Chapter!  By this initiative, you’re securing access to a comprehensive network of career resources and multiple opportunities to grow your own skills and get ahead of your peers in industry.  Now, the next step is to get to know one another, so we cordially invite you to join us for Member Orientation on April 16th from 5:30-6:15 p.m.  This event is for any member that is new to the chapter, as well as members considering joining or current members that want to refresh their contacts and information.  The presentation will provide an opportunity to learn more about the
Global and local chapter benefits, training & PDU opportunities, scheduled membership activities and your benefits for active participation.   In addition, this is a great opportunity to meet the current Board members and find out more about their Chapter vision and goals.

What are the Keys to Success in Project Management?

In 2013, David Barrett and fellow author, Derek Vigar, sought out 25 of our leading project managers to find out the answer to the question – what is the key to your success?

The result is this book called "The Keys to Our Success - Lessons Learned from 25 of our Best Project Managers" - a collection of their best stories, lessons, and takeaways.  25 different industry leaders make 25 different compelling cases for why their “key” will help influence your project success:

  • The seven bullets of highly effective project managers
  • Why leadership must be taken, not given
  • The importance of becoming project “business-savvy”
  • Ways to generate meaningful client ownership
  • How great project managers make it fun
  • And 20 other differentiators that have helped these industry leaders stand out.

In this multi-media, interactive hour, David will share some of these lessons learned and facilitate the discussion on those featured lessons and some from the audience.

STL PMI is offering a free copy of the book "The Keys to Our Success - Lessons Learned from 25 of our Best Project Managers" to the first 100 attendees.

Bio: David Barrett has spent the past 17 years building a series of companies dedicated to the business of Project Management: running conferences in Canada, the US, Australia and India, running education programs at 10 universities across Canada and directing the portal hosing this webinar.

He is also the Director of, a web site connecting project managers donating their time to Charities and Not-for-Profit organizations across Canada.

David has released two books: The Power of the Plan - for people managing every day projects and The Keys to Our Success – for professional PMs.
